An Unforgettable Wedding Venue

San Clemente Island, founded in 1131, is wondrously unique, existing as a venue that has everything you could ever ask for, including a dream team of staff that assist your every need. It feels worlds apart from the rush of Venice and its many tourists. The private speedboat from Piazza San Marco transports wedding parties to the magical realms of San Clemente Palace Kempinski, a place where any wedding, big or small can be catered for. In fact, the hotel brims with a variety of spaces and areas to host your celebrations.

The island is an oasis far removed from the eyes of the public, existing as a private spot that boasts a dock where guests can take to the water, exploring the trappings of Venice by boat. Or, for those unforgettable wedding shots, the Kempinski team can meet your requirements, capturing photos of you by dusk or dawn on a luxurious private transfer or even on a gondola.

The Sacristy Room to the Magnificent Gardens

The hotel is a charming wedding destination in Italy. Here, submerged in Venice and its rich and flamboyant history, on an island priding itself on “the recovery of the soul and spirit, sits a 12th century church; a darling spot for symbolic ceremonies submerged in lush gardens. This church is a life-altering spot for an “I do,” in a location bathed in flowers twirling around pillars, amongst white stone and bright interiors. Before or after the ceremony, why not raise a glass in the church’s courtyard; a charming spot which flaunts views across the lagoon to St. Marks Square, perfect for a reception, lunch or dinner.

The Sacristy Private Dining Room too is utterly magical, located in an adjoining wing of the church, where wedding guests are enveloped by the unique charm of the exposed-brick room. Another favoured location to raise a glass of Champagne is the Private Garden Enclaves. Here, you’ll sit and celebrate your wedding amongst elegant gardens, immersed in cypress, magnolia and lime trees, all whilst overlooking the dazzling waters where sunrises and sunsets are rife. What’s more, there are four idyllic garden spots to choose from around the island, perfect for a dreamy al fresco setting, these include the Sunset Garden, Natural Garden, Lido Garden and the Central Garden.

Whilst most of the weddings at the hotel take place in the magnificent gardens, there are various other unrivalled spots to exchange vows, which can hold up to 400 people. There really aren’t enough adjectives to describe just how unique San Clemente Kempinski is.

Luxury Accommodation

With weary feet from dancing and even wearier eyes from taking in the allure of an amazing Kempinski wedding, having a five-star sleep experience waiting for you just sounds heavenly. At this grand hotel, you won’t be without options. Kempinski Venice has a huge variety of rooms, 197 in total, perfect for bridal parties, couples and wedding guests to stay. The Superior, or Deluxe rooms live up to their namesake, keeping it classic with gorgeous Venetian décor, and rooms paved with Italian marble bathrooms, pastel greens to reflect Venetian elegance, and romantic postcard-esque views, ideal for any occasion of love. Not to mention, they’re some of the most spacious room offerings Venice has to offer.

The rooms all differ in type but all ooze luxury. The Lido Suite features honey-hued woodwork and a private pier, whilst the Venice Suite is awash with beguiling views of the palace gardens, decorated with plush platinum carpeting – the perfect companion for worn out feet. Next, there’s the Giardini Villa. This blissful, secluded spot sees guests reclining in an elegant Italian bungalow, perfect for newlyweds or even families. The harmonious ambience includes two dining patios, a sunning area for topping up that pre-wedding tan and an enclosed private garden. The Marco Polo Suite, too, is just as spacious, with a curved living room accompanying panoramic views.

Heading over to the Tiepolo Suite & Tintoretto Suite, Venice is experienced in all of its glory, with Terrazzo flooring, Murano glass chandeliers, lofty ceilings and views of the setting sun. Leaving the best till last is for the bride and groom deserving of ultra-luxury, the San Clemente Suite is the name given to Kempinski’s Presidential suite, with exposed timber ceilings, wooden pillars and elaborate masonry original to the monastery. Guests here take advantage of their own private pier, state-of-the-art equipment and personalised chef-prepared meals. It’s of little surprise that the hotel’s centrepiece of a room won “Best European Suite,” in the 2018 World Travel Awards.

An Array of Offerings

Of course, no palace is complete without fine fare, and San Clemente Kempinski offers guests a myriad of indulgent offerings. La Dolce Restaurant keeps it classic with pizzas fired up on traditional wood-fired ovens; a sure-fire way to stock back up on energy after a wedding. Or there’s Acquerello Restaurant, where breath taking views across the water provide a highly romantic landscape on which to enjoy Venetian and Italian inspired dishes, all using vegetables cultivated in the hotel’s vegetable gardens. Bars are rife too. Al Bacaro is relaxing and provides comfy seating to snuggle up with your bride, or groom to be and enjoy Venetian “Chicchetti” and sundowners.

Despite the property generally closing from November to March, those ready to exchange vows at the hotel can still visit to check out the site and its attractive atmosphere if necessary during these times.

Well, now that’s confirmed, it leaves little else to ask but, which will be your chosen date?
