#1 – Escape the More Popular Italian Wedding Locations

Sure, Italy wedding locations like the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, and the dazzling Lake Como are tempting—there’s a reason they're so popular!

But here's a secret: some of the most dreamy wedding spots in Italy are tucked away, often just a short ride from the main tourist areas. Think charming towns you might miss on the map, cosy villas with picture-perfect views and a touch of the extra privacy for your destination wedding in Italy.

Most of these Italy wedding locations are only a 20-30 minute drive from the bustling hotspots, meaning you'll still get all that classic Italian charm and wow-worthy views, just with the added bonus of escaping the crowds and perhaps even saving on higher priced venue fees.

Some of Jayne’s favourite regions to host a wedding in Italy in are Umbria, Friuli Venezia Guilia (a must if you love vineyards!), Abruzzo and Puglia – each one boasting its own unique beauty.

#2 – A Wedding in the Mountains or By the lakes

If you're dreaming of a gorgeous green, natural  location for your wedding, then Italy won't disappoint. There are so many different options across the country where you can get married surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery.

Jayne’s a huge fan of mountain weddings in Italy – perfect for intimate escapes or a thrilling ski celebration if you're a ski-loving couple feeling adventurous. There are some stunning mountain areas across Italy like Cortina or Bressanone, but just a little bit further out in lesser-known spots you'll find plenty of hidden gem, cosy mountain 'rifugios' which offer equally breathtaking views.

For a truly unforgettable wedding day activity, Jayne suggests a helicopter ride over the Dolomites after your ceremony for epic wedding photos. What a fab idea!

Of course, Italy's lakes are legendary, too!

We’ve seen many couples say their vows against the backdrop of the shimmering blues of Garda or Como – and its pure fairytale magic. But if you’re still looking to trade the crowds of Como and Maggiore, consider the serene beauty of Lake Orta or Umbria's Lake Trasimeno, dotted with gorgeous islands.

#3 – Alternatives to Amalfi Coast wedding locations in Italy

The Amalfi Coast is known for weddings in its iconic towns, Ravello and Positano, but there's so much more to discover in the region!

Nearby towns like Massa Lubrense offer beachside romance or rustic, boho vibes in hilltop farmyard settings. Or in Sant'Agata sui due Golfi, you'll find an array of gorgeous villa venues with easy access to all the charm of Sorrento.

#4 – Venice, Puglia, and the Magic of the Unexpected

Okay, want to feel like royalty? Venice is the place to do it! Exchange vows on a picturesque island like the JW Marriott, or go all out and get married in a historic palazzo. Jayne remembers one incredible wedding where the couple arrived in true style – on the Orient Express – and had their reception overlooking the Grand Canal. It was like something from a movie!

Let's talk about Puglia, too—one of the best locations in Italy to get married if you’re looking for tradition! It's all about warm hospitality, food that'll make your tastebuds sing and weddings that feel like a giant, joyful family feast. Puglia is the place to say “I do" in a centuries-old farmhouse surrounded by olive trees or dance the night away under twinkling lights in a charming seaside town. A Puglia wedding will truly be one to remember.
